osama bin laden

I think that it is a good thing that we finally got rid of osama. He was a dangerous terrorist who got what he deserved. I think that we made the right choice. If we would have kept him ailve it might have provoked al queada to a more immediate response and it also would have been a mess because we cannot just kill a man that you have prisoner so that would have been a worse decision. I think that over all we did the right thing, he was responsible for thousands of american deaths, even if he wasn't the only one responsible. He isn't the only leader that al queada has. There will be another leader that will  come to power, hopefully he will be more neutral about americans, which is very unlikely. I think that the pakistani government was not pursuing him like they could have. I think that they should have just told us that he was there, they didn't even have to take action. Also if the U.S. would have informed the government of their plans to kill osama bin ladan they might have told him that we were coming and then he would have escaped. Also the soldiers that were sent in to kill osama should have recieved the money that was put on his head. Even if they work for the government doesn't mean that they shouldn't recieve an extra bonus for putting their lifes on the line. I liked the way that the government treated his burial they did it respectfully and quietly. If they would have buried him in a grave then they would have made it into another reason that the youth of the middle east should join al queada because he didn't have a proper muslim burial. If on the other hand they paraded him around then it would have caused a huge uproar in public opinion scrutinizing the americans. I also worry about where the terrorists will strike next and with what weapons. If they use a biological germ weapon that could put thousands and even millions into danger. If they just use a bomb then will they come after the americans and try to kill our civilians again. We must be more careful about who we let into the country. An example of this is checking people in airports. Like when many people say that we are discriminating against muslims by checking them more often. Well of course we are they are the perpatrators of nine eleven. It doesn't make any sense not to discriminate because then we would be wasting our time. It's not like we are taking them hostage or persicuting them. We are just trying to make sure that we keep our civilians safe from fringe group terrorists. The main group of muslims believe in a much less radical interpratation of the koran, but even a few is dangerous. I think that it was a good thing that we killed osama.

restrepo blog assignment

The main idea was that they honor and respect their fallen comrades. They also did things to commemorate their friends like write letters to the families of the men who died, or celebrate birthdays.

1.I think that it brought the book to life when the American soldiers in afganistan were going into enemy territory and the enemy had the advantage.
2. When the hummer hits a land mine and they have to get out and fight that reminded of when Jenkins stepped on a mine.
3. When one of the soldiers was breaking down because one of his close friends died it reminded me of when Johnson cannot accept the death of brew.
4. The soldiers still had some fun when they weren’t fighting, like in fallen angels peewee and perry play checkers and in afganistan the soldiers are playing PS3.
5. In both stories the soldiers have to deal with locals who are probably related to the enemy, and sometimes betray them. Like when the GI is killed by the kid was blown up by his mother when he was holding a mine.
6. In both  stories the men are praying, in fallen angels its brew and in restrepo they have a silent praying time before they go into battle or go onto a patrol.
7. In both they celebrate their dead friends. In fallen angels they celebrate brew’s birthday by getting a cake from the chef and eating in the hooch. In restrepo they shoot of flares and talk about their dead comrades.
8. In both of the stories they sleep and live in hooches like in fallen angels.
9. In the war in afganistan the soldiers never forget about their families like one soldier calls his parents and his wife before he goes on patrol. In fallen angels they write letters back to their families and tlak to them.
10. In both they do special things for their friends that die. Like in fallen angels they celebrate peoples birthdays and send home letters to their families. In restrepo they named their base restrepo in honor of their fallen comrades.

Siddhartha blogging assignment

Following your path is a idea that is expressed many times in thsi book. This quote shows just that. "To nobody, O illustrious one, can you communicate in words and teahings what happend to you in the hour of your enlightenment". (pg. 34) I think that this quote means that you muts follow your own path. You cannot be taught how to be enlightened you must explore the world and find your own way to be enlightened. Like how govinda does it by being a buddhist monk, or how siddharta does it by many ways like learning love, having kids, and listening to a river. Another quote about following your path is when govinda meets his dear friend after not seeing him for many years."But today you have met such a pilgrim in such shoes and dress. Remember, my dear Govinda. The world of appearances is transitory". (93) I think that this means even though you look diffrent on the outside you can still be doing the same thing as someone who looks right for the job. An example of this in the book is the buddha himself. He seems to be like all the other monks, but he has been enlightened and at first siddhartha and Govinda don't recognize them. Like when i used to have long hair I didn't look like a ballplayer at all. So some people would think that I was bad. When I was just as good and better than people who looked more like a ballplayer.

Macbeth quotes

Quote: Act 1 scene 7 lines 56-61 When you durst do it, then you were a man; And to be more than what you were, you would Be so much more than a man. Nor time nor place Did then adhere, and yet you would make both. They have made themselves, and that their fitness now.

Context: The context of this quote is right after macbeth gets promoted by the king he murders the king because some witches told him he would become king. His wife is talking to him.

Explanation: In the quote macbeth's wife is saying that he should be more of a man. The reason she is saying this is because he doesn't want to kill the guards of the king so they get framed.

Quote: Act 1 scene 7 lines 40-49 Was the hope drunk? Werein you dressed yourself? Hath it slept since? And wakes it now, to look so green and pale At what it did so freely? From this time Such I account thy love. Art thou afeard To be the same in thine own esteem, Letting "I dare not" wait upon "I would," Like the poor cat I' th' adage*"

Context: This is before the king is murdered. Macbeth is back from war and at his castle with his wife.

Explanation: She is asking if he was drunk or if he had changed his mind since he had slept. This is when macbeth still has a little conscience and good in him.

Quote: Act 1 scene 5 lines 47-51 Come you spirits That tend on mortal thoughts, unsex me here, And fill me from the crown to the toe top-full of direst cruelty. Make thick my blood. Stop up th’ access and passage to remorse”

Context: It's the night before the king shall arrive at the castle of macbeth. A messanger is talking to the lady.

Explication: Lady macbeth is saying that she wants to be more manly so she can murder and not feel any remorse.

Quote: Act 4 scene 3 lines 259-261 Dispute it like a man I shall do so, But I must also feel it as a man

Context:Ross comes with news about macduff's family. He is in england with the prince.

Explanation: Ross comes with the terrible news that macduff's wife and children have been savagely slaughtered. Malcom says he should be angry with macbeth because he is the one who caused it.

Quote: Act 4 scene 3 lines 268-275 Let grief Convert to anger. Blunt not the heart; enrage it O, I could play the woman with mine eyes And braggart with my tongue! But, gentle heavens, Cut short this intermission! Front to front Bring thou this fiend of Scotland and myself.  Within my sword’s length set him. If he ‘scape, Heaven forbid him too

Context: Macduff is still in england with the prince and he is getting angry. His wife and kids are killed by macbeth.

explanation: Macduff just had his whole family killed so he is very angry with macbeth. The prince thinks he should go and kill him and so does macduff. So they decide to take englands army against macduffs smaller one.

Themes of the odyssey

On theme that you see repeatedly in the odyssey is that it is extremely important to be loyal to all friends and allies.

Book 16: It is very important to be loyal espicially in greek society. A example of this from book 16 of the odyssey is when the suitors betray odysseus and defile his castle. When odysseus returns he sees that there is trash everywhere. Odysseus froms a plan to get revenge so he locks all the suitors in the chamber and slaughters them all. This is how the suitors were unloyal.

Book 21: Another way that loyalty is shown is when penelope odysseus' faithful wife thinks that he will come back. After twenty years with the suitors annoying her she decides to hold a competition to see if any of them could replace odysseus. She holds a competition to string a bow and shoot it through 12 axes. She knows that none of the suitors can do that so she won't marry any of them. This shows how Athena is loyal to her husband.

Book 12: One way you can be loyal is to always follow the orders of your superior. When odysseus is with his crew on the island of helios he instructs them not to touch any of the cattle. They can't move away with thier boat because it's stormy. The food starts to run low so the men are worried. When odysseus goes off to pray his men kill one of the cows and eat it. After that Helios is angry then it ends up that he tells zeus to kill all the men except odysseus. So then odysseus' crew and his boat are destroyed because the crew didn't follow his orders. This shows that not being loyal can get you killed.

list and pie paragraph

1. Are first thing that we learned that to always be accepting of others like when we talked about how a college boy killed himself when he was made fun of for being homosexual.
2. Another lesson we learned was that we have to work together to succeed. We learned this from the road group questions.
3. Always get your work done in time i learned this from the readings we did of Odysseus, Because I saved a whole book till the night before.
4. Always be creative I learned this from the skits we did with jack.
5. Be able to improvise, like when someone forgets their line in a script you have to try to think of something to say.
6. You must be hardworking like when we had to write pages upon pages of work for our video game project.
7. Be organized I learned this from we had to do the hero’s path. I couldn’t understand it because I wasn’t taking clear notes.
8.  I also learned not to be greedy like when Odysseus attacked the seconians who then came with reinforcements and killed many of their soldiers.
9. Don’t get distracted I learned this when my friend didn’t do a paragraph we were supposed to write for homework.
10. I also learned how to act, I had know idea how to act but i learned this from jack.

An item i would like to expand on is our time with jack and acting. The thing we learned is how to act. We learned this the two weeks he was here. You should not be quiet. When your acting you have to make sure that you are talking clearly so everyone can hear you. An example is when during one of our plays someone was talking really quietly and i told them to speak louder so the entire class could hear them.

One thing that could be gained is not to be greedy. Like when Odysseus’ men got greedy and tried to hang longer than they should have and got slaughtered. You should never be to greedy because people won’t like you. An example of this is when you get greedy while playing football and try to rack up points on the other team everyone will think you are a huge jerk. Like when Wisconsin beat a team by more than 60.
